The Hand-crafted Spectrum
Over the years, Windsor chairs have been advertised as hand-crafted that
run the spectrum from traditionally hand tooled to shops of several employees
that purchase chair parts and assemble chairs. The WCR site does not list
assembly-only shops. We believe that for a similar price, chairmaker
shops using handcrafted traditional methods produce a sounder chair of greater
investment value. Not all chairmakers listed on this site use the same
techniques. We have attempted to define how chairs are made by each chairmaker
on the Chairmaker listing. Our goal is not
to decide for you, but to educate you to the differences so you may make
a more informed decision.
